It is with the deepest regret that we have to inform you that Paul Willicombe passed away on Friday at Holme Towers in Penarth after losing his fight with cancer.
Paul started with the 38th Cardiff Scout Group as a leader in 1988. He later became the GSL of the Group and after the Group was closed he became the GSL of the 25th Cardiff URC Scout Group.
In 1999 Paul took over the responsibility for the Christmas Post scheme in the Area, and it was in this role that he was perhaps best known. Under his direction the scheme grew and many Groups and organisations benefited from participating in the scheme.
Paul was a member of the Area Appointments Committee and a District Appointments Committee. He was an active member of the Area Executive Committee for 24 years and was involved in setting up the Area Scout Shop. He was the warden of Jubilee Campsite and a leader with the 14th Cardiff Lord Mayor’s Own Troop.
Paul will be greatly missed by so many people with whom he came into contact. Our thoughts at this time are with his wife Mary and his family.
Further details of the funeral arrangements will be circulated in due course.
